CaringLife – Connecting the Lives of Children in Care
For many children in out-of-home or alternative care, precious memories are easily lost — photos, videos, school reports, certificates of achievement, artwork, and other significant moments that tell the story of who they are.
These moments are important pieces of identity and belonging. Yet too often, these memories are scattered or stored in ways that don’t last — printed photos in folders, files on USB sticks, or images left behind when a child moves homes.
CaringLife, an award-winning platform and app created by foster carers, solves this problem by giving children and young people secure digital access to their life memories and documents.
With CaringLife, children, carers, and social workers can securely upload photos, videos, documents, and journal entries that capture milestones, achievements, and everyday moments. Each memory can include captions and comments, creating meaningful conversations that help children feel seen and supported. Social workers and case managers can review and moderate all content, ensuring that every memory, journal entry, and comment is preserved safely and privately for life.
When a young person leaves care, their CaringLife account remains theirs to keep, giving them lifelong access to their memories and personal history.
Who is it designed for?
CaringLife is designed for children and young people in out-of-home care - foster, kinship, residential care, youth justice and disability services; their carers and social workers.
What can be uploaded?
If it's something a young person would like to remember, it can be uploaded. It might be photos and video from their birthday party, funny photos they take at home, a holiday, school photos, a day at the park, etc. It can also be scans of sporting awards, certificates of participation, birthday cards, artwork, or school reports.
What happens if the child moves?
If the young person moves to a new care family or residential home, the new carers can be connected with the child so that they can continue to upload all the new memories to the child's account. The content will be able to be accessed forever - even when the young person leaves care or reaches adulthood.
Powerful yet simple
Fully hosted and secure
CaringLife is built utilising the latest security protocols to ensure complete data privacy and protection for the children. All content is processed and stored in the child's country of residence on AWS cloud servers. The protocols for storage of content are aligned with international security and quality best practices standards, including: • SOC 1/SSAE 16/ISAE 3402 (formerly SAS 70) • SOC 2 • SOC 3 • FISMA, DIACAP, and FedRAMP • DOD CSM Levels 1-5 • PCI DSS Level 1 • ISO 9001 / 27001 • ITAR • FIPS 140-2 • MTCS Level 3.

"The Australian Childhood Foundation is very pleased to support the CaringLife app. Its intent is to support carers and children in out-of-home care to be able to keep the records, mementoes and memories so often lost to children and young people in out of home care due to multiple moves. These are the things we take for granted in our own lives and the lives of our children. We all know how important and special these things are. They speak to who we are, our sense of identity and belonging."

Janise Mitchell
CEO, Australian Childhood Foundation“Childhood memories are precious and powerful. CaringLife secures these for life, ensuring that children and young people can access what belongs to them whenever and however they choose to. The Fostering Network is proud to endorse this innovative and child-centred development.”

Sarah Thomas
CEO, The Fostering Network"A fragmented, damaged, discontinuous personal narrative puts an individual child at risk. CaringLife provides a terrific way for children to be able to access their life moments in an easy and continuous way, and I support the use of CaringLife for children in out-of-home care.”
