CaringLife – Connecting the Lives of Children in Care

Children in out-of-home or alternative care face a major problem in having access to their life memories, photos, videos, and documents.

These memories and documents are priceless, and form an integral part of the child's identity and life story, but are often given to them on USB or in a scrapbook which can be lost or damaged.

CaringLife is an award-winning platform and app that has been created to solve this problem, giving children and young people digital access to all their life memories and documents in a very private and secure way.

CaringLife connects children and teens with their carers and social workers, and enables the children/young people and carers to upload the content, write captions and see all the memories from their time together. Social workers can see and moderate all the content and can also add memories and other important documents.

What happens if the child moves?

If the young person moves to a new care family or residential home, the new carers can be connected with the child so that they can continue to upload all the new memories to the child's account. The content will be able to be accessed forever - even when the young person leaves care or reaches adulthood.

Who is it designed for?

CaringLife is designed for children and young people in out-of-home care - foster, kinship or residential care.

What can be uploaded?

If it's something a young person would like to remember, it can be uploaded. It might be photos and video from their birthday party, funny photos they take at home, a holiday, school photos, a day at the park, etc. It can also be scans of sporting awards, certificates of participation, birthday cards, artwork, or school reports.

Powerful yet simple

Fully hosted and secure

CaringLife is built utilising the latest security protocols to ensure complete data privacy and protection for the children. All content is processed and stored in the child's country of residence on AWS cloud servers. The protocols for storage of content are aligned with international security and quality best practices standards, including: • SOC 1/SSAE 16/ISAE 3402 (formerly SAS 70) • SOC 2 • SOC 3 • FISMA, DIACAP, and FedRAMP • DOD CSM Levels 1-5 • PCI DSS Level 1 • ISO 9001 / 27001 • ITAR • FIPS 140-2 • MTCS Level 3.

"The Australian Childhood Foundation is very pleased to support the CaringLife app. Its intent is to support carers and children in out-of-home care to be able to keep the records, mementoes and memories so often lost to children and young people in out of home care due to multiple moves. These are the things we take for granted in our own lives and the lives of our children. We all know how important and special these things are. They speak to who we are, our sense of identity and belonging."

“Having access to Childhood memories is something parents in everyday life take for granted, so ensuring our children in foster care have their own private access to memories they create through CaringLife is an incredible innovation and an absolute right for all children and young people in the care system.”

"A fragmented, damaged, discontinuous personal narrative puts an individual child at risk.  CaringLife provides a terrific way for children to be able to access their life moments in an easy and continuous way, and I support the use of CaringLife for children in out-of-home care.”
